The ribbon-cutting ceremony - held at the Winchester show site - was attended by a number of local dignitaries, including the Mayor of Winchester, councillor Cecily Sutton.
It was a double celebration to honour Homelodge as this year’s winner of the Winchester Business Excellence Award.
Mr Peter Bolger, Managing Director, made the formal welcome, and expression of thanks. He presented a personal history of the firm’s development from its start-up in 1986, and recalling his earliest years he explained [quote]:
“It’s a remarkable achievement, from our humble beginnings, of one lodge in our first year, to now 50 lodges each year. The National Gardening Awards, and the Winchester Business Excellence Awards have provided a welcome recognition of the design, quality and service we strive for.”
In his response Mark Oaten paid special tribute to Peter and Felix Bolder, and the staff of Homelodge [quote]:
“Thank you Peter, and congratulations Felix, its heart warming to see a family run business which has become so successful. From building the first lodge in 1986, to the 500th today”.
Homelodge Buildings Ltd have created a unique design-and-build formula for providing affordable extra living space. Many local authorities have also successfully adopted the award-winning concept.
Mark Oaten went on to say [quote]:
“For the Public Services, as well, the qualities of these (lodges) are excellent so I am encouraged that Hampshire County Council are on board.”
Mark concluded [quote]:
“Congratulations. It’s a wonderful success story, and you’ve done a marvellous job.”
