Following on from the enormous success of the original TV series of 'My Flat Pack Home' in 2010 which featured two of our Homelodges, October Films contacted us wanting to feature Homelodge again. This time they wanted to feature Accommodation lodges and film the installation process from start to finish.

Lauren Willard had just placed an order for an Accommodation Lodge (Grandpa Annexe) for her Father-in-Law, Percy. So after the initial 'oh no we couldn't be on TV' Lauren & Percy agreed to their '15 minutes of fame' and have the TV cameras follow the progress of their lodge installation with Amanda Lamb interviewing them at strategic stages.

This one-bed roomed Accommodation 9.1 Lodge (9.1m x 3.6m) took less than five weeks to complete, from the first clod of soil to be dug through to the handover of the keys - leaving them with a fantastic cosy Annexe ready to live in complete with bathroom, fitted kitchen, decoration and floor coverings.

Our Accommodation Lodge/Granny Annexe range is perfect for the provision of permanent all year round living space. With people living longer now many families find themselves in the position of wanting to ensure that elderly relatives are safe and comfortable but still wish them to have their independence so with the installation of a garden annex for Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents and even grown-up children who can't get on the property ladder they can have a home of their own but have the security of knowing that family and help is nearby. All the comforts of home are designed and built in to suit each person's requirements, offering living space, kitchens, bathroom/shower rooms, w/c's and bedrooms etc. Heating and lighting come as standard with the addition of many options and built to the latest Building Regulations. A range of styles and finishes are available to give a traditional or a modern contemporary look.

One of these lodges is a very large 'bungalow' style 'L' shaped unit in Manchester for Mr & Mrs Jones - this one will finished with brick-slips which give the appearance of conventional brick walls and the roof will have slate tiles. And like the Willard lodge this one is being filmed from start to finish. The other two lodges that are going to be featured were completed within the last couple of years - one is a holiday home and the other is a 'chill-out' room. Watch this space to find out when these programmes will be screened.
