Our home building solutions perfect for your garden office
We create the perfect professional environment for working from home, with light, space and all-year-round comfort
So you want to, or already do, work from home. These days it’s a far more common and appealing option for some of us, but unless you’re very fortunate, creating the right space and atmosphere can be quite tricky in the modern household.
You know the drill, partners, children and pets all have their own way of distracting us whether they mean to or not. Whether it’s through frustrated experience, or instinctive foresight you’ve arrived at the point and are reading this, because you realise you need to create a better environment to work in.
We understand exactly what you‘re thinking, and for over 20 years, we’ve been designing and making top quality, comfortable garden office buildings. So, whether you work on your own, or run your own business from home with extra staff, we can provide the right building for you.
When you buy a Homelodge, you have the choice of vaulted ceilings and for full-length windows to create beautiful, light and airy spaces, which in turn make an environment that is calming and relaxing, yet inspiring and productive. We can customise the external appearance of your new building to blend in with any garden setting, whether your house is a classic period building or more modern or contemporary style.
All of our garden offices are fully insulated timber buildings which make them usable and extremely comfortable all year round, whatever the British weather throws at us.

Multiple uses?
Whilst you are in the process of designing your perfect work space, why not give some thought to making your new building as flexible as possible. Many of our customers chose to add additional rooms and facilities so they can utilise their new building for a variety of practical uses, and to enhance the value of their investment. Here are just a few examples of the things some of our previous customers have chosen:
Add a bedroom, shower and toilet to cater for occasional overnight guests in style
Add a kitchen area, tea / coffee station or toilet to save trips back to the house
Add rooms for meetings or storage
Add a room for gym equipment
Add a room to make space for your hobbies, art or music
Add a room to make a teenagers den or hang-out
Fast to build and virtually zero disruption
Because we construct our office buildings off-site we can complete your new building in a very short time, which means minimal disruption to you, and no need to move out. With Homelodge, your new garden office building is up and running much faster compared with a loft conversion or traditional brick built extension, giving you the space to be productive typically months sooner.
A far simpler alternative to home extensions
Long gone are the days of extensive planning applications, and lengthy and expensive building works that are associated with brick built extensions. Our garden buildings offer a permanent and highly attractive, yet affordable, alternative building solution.
Because we are the designers, architects, builders, landscapers, electricians, plumbers and decorators all in one package, you won't have to worry about lengthy and messy disruptions or have the headache of dealing with different contractors.
Our complete ‘turn-key’ service
To make life as simple for you as possible, we can take care of absolutely every aspect of your building project – everything from site inspection through to decoration and landscaping. Our service includes planning approval and building regulations (if required - see below), full project management – in fact all the support you need to ensure the building is complete and ready to move in.
Do I need planning permission?
For a garden office generally the answer is no. However, if it is necessary then don't worry, as we have years of experience in gaining planning consent. If you talk to us first, before you contact your local authority, we will be able to advise you on how to obtain permission. When you buy your garden office from Homelodge, we will apply for planning if necessary, and will handle all of the negotiations with the planning department on your behalf.
A permanent solution
Our garden buildings are fully insulated for permanent, all-year-round use. We offer high-impact internal cladding to withstand daily wear and tear, to make sure your garden lodge building still looks great after many years of use.
Should any problems occur within the first year our guarantee will cover the entire installation. Thereafter, to keep your new garden office building in optimum condition, we recommend that you redecorate the external fabric every 6 years.
Alternatively, we would be delighted to undertake this for you if you take advantage of our on-going external maintenance contract which includes scheduled visits to inspect and redecorate the external timbers of your building. Taking out the maintenance contract also gives you further peace of mind with a ten year guarantee on the external fabric of your Homelodge building. In fact Faith & Gould in a report to Kent County Council have stated that if our external material is stained every 7 years (we do 6 years under our contract agreement) the walls should be durable for at least 60 years.
Designed by you, with our help
We will visit you at home, and take the time to guide you through all of the following options to make sure your new garden office building meets your specific needs:
External cladding and colour schemes: use subtle tones to blend into a rural or classical environment, or bold primary colours for a modern appearance
A very wide range of internal colours for both walls and ceilings: you don't have to settle for pine cladding if you don't want to!
Facilities: we can include kitchens, toilets and shower rooms as appropriate
Additional rooms: create rooms for privacy, meetings, storage, food preparation, or a reception area
Dual uses: add bedrooms, kitchens, shower or bathrooms to extend the use of your building
Heating: in addition to our standard fitted electric convector heaters, you can choose to add air conditioning
Windows and doors: are fully double glazed. Chose from options for french doors, sliding doors, as well as full length or velux windows
Roof styles: Choose a pitched roof for a classic and traditional feel, or a monopitch (flat and angled) roof for a more contemporary look.
